// Hurricane Season 2025: Surf's Up, Stay Alert

The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season is shaping up to be more active than usual. Colorado State University forecasts 17 named storms, 9 hurricanes, and 4 major hurricanes. Texas, in particular, has a 70% chance of being within 50 miles of a named storm, which is about 10% higher than average.
Cooler Pacific waters hint at La Niña conditions, which can reduce wind shear and potentially enhance hurricane formation in the Atlantic. However, unusually cool Atlantic temperatures might counterbalance this effect.
